On redirect

  • it's noted that the drive from Clancy home to south shore is 4 minutes roughly

On recross

  • reddington is able to point out that a young child would take time to get ready and that they arrived at 10 am

My thoughts:
I believe the Prosecution is trying to say that Lindsay premeditated this event due to the fact that they think it was Lindsay searching this stuff. However i think they once again helped the defence by allowing them to cross examine and establish how unwell Lindsay was and that it very likely wasn't Lindsay even preforming the search on August 23rd. On another note not really relevant to the case the exchange between defence lawyer Kevin reddington (a 75 year old with 50 years of trial experience) and the witness as kind of comical. this revolved around a lot of technology insights and at points Mr. reddington would be like i don't know whats this here while reading the report with the witness. he also had his magnifying glass out which gave very private detective vibes haha.

Witness #71- Timothy Chiapini- Called by prosecution

timother chaipini lindsay clancy trial day 13

State Police Detective Unit

  • Preformed the search of Lindsay's I-phone

  • Search history:

    • mental-health topics

    • medications

    • psychosis

    • schizophrenia

    • hallucinations

    • insomnia

    • "can you treat a sociopath" ( this search was 4 days before the killings)

  • Notes App Review:

    • Gave insight into Lindsay's feelings of depression and inadequacy surrounding parenting, including concerns about Callan's experience as the third child and wanting him to have the same kind of attention she believed a first child receives.

  • January 24th timeline:

    • Confirmed the searches for CVS and the restaurant that Patrick was sent to.

    Calendar App Review:

    • Showed appointments for Callen and Dawson

    • Showed she logged Dawson ear check appointment as 9:45am (this would take her out of the searches on suicide)

  • Full report questioning:

    • on cross it came up that there was other searches in Lindsay's phone such as:

      • "carotid artery"

      • "how to slit your throat"

      • "how to turn off an airbag in a Kia Sorento"

    • the trooper claims he did not recall if those searches came up in his report

Witness #72- Joshua Mkelligan

State police - Case Officer in homicide section

  • His job is o manage the case, gather everything, keep track of whats going on in the investigation

  • Notes what he observed in the master bedroom and reviews a video of the bedroom to confirm that's what he saw.

  • confirms that he reviewed evidence in the case

  • talks about the collection of the medication

  • reviews a video of the family at a science museum and Lindsay interacting with the kids

  • Talks about what the medical examiner told him

Thoughts on the rest of the day: You really don't realize how much your devices can reveal about you when you are going day to day. All in all, I think the phone shows a very mentally unwell person. From a mothers view, it hit me when they discussed her wanting Callen to have the same experience as her first child. My youngest is 7 and I still to this day will randomly feel guilty for him not getting the same one on one time that I had with his older brother. I think that's why this case is such a big topic right now and why mom's are for the majority at least being very understanding or even believing she was insane at the time. I also think it plays a part in why people think Patrick did it or try to find things to confirm that theory. If a mom who sounded like every other mom and struggled with not feeling like she's a good enough parent, when it actuality she is more then good enough could end up doing something so devastating, what does that mean for the rest of us struggling. does that mean we have to acknowledge any mother could be in her shoes? the answer is yes. Lindsay wasn't the first case like this and sadly without more support she won't be the last.
